June 12 – Holy Trinity Sunday – Faith in Jesus Is Not Impossible Even When Understanding Is Hard

The Athanasian Creed confesses trust in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit even though human knowledge cannot mathematically figure out the Three-In-One God. A person might complain this creed uses overly technical terms, so it is not very understandable. However, it is important to note that the words of Jesus are “not understandable”

The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” John 8:48-51

The promise from Jesus “if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death” itself is held by divinely given faith, not by human based knowledge.

Thanks be to God for His “impossible” promises! We sinful humans cannot figure out our way from our sin, our death, our evils. Jesus is our rescue, He calls us to trust in Him.

Call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me. Psalm 50:15

Join us hearing in God’s Word and calling upon Him!
