Feb 13 – All Life Depends on This: Jesus Is Raised from the Dead

19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian faith. The reality and the promises connected to Jesus’ resurrection direct the Christian’s entire view: all our understandings, interpretations and perceptions in this life are founded on the fact that Jesus is risen from the dead. No matter what good or bad thing happens day to day and year to year, Jesus’ resurrection means that He gives eternal life to me. As God wills I am only an instant from being in heaven with all God’s people, whether today, tomorrow or in 20 years. My daily fears can subside, my tears will end and God’s blessings of true life continue forever.

During this season of Epiphany the sermons at Zion Lutheran consider Paul’s teaching in 1 Corinthians chapters 12-15. For February 13, 20 and 27 we will consider Paul’s teaching on Jesus’ resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15. Come visit us in person or listen to our recorded services and sermons online!
